The Straughn Lady Tigers pulled away early in their match last Friday evening in the match against Georgianna the boys’ side struggled to keep up to the Panthers.

The team was led by two three-pointers from Ora Hall, and by an impressive defensive effort The Lady Tigers took a 13-2 advantage against Georgiana in the opening period.
The game was a one-sided affair from that point on after that as Straughn continued to beat players from the Lady Panthers in the second period and took a lead of 23-7 at the end of the first half. Tori Canant hit a three-pointer for Straughn’s Lady Tigers in the second and Allyx Williamson scored three points on the help of a basket and a free throw.
Hall hit her third 3-pointer during the 3rd quarter and Blakeley Smith scored her first three-pointer of the game. Williamson added six additional points in the third period, when they Lady Tigers stretched their lead to 37-14.
The Lady Panthers did outscore Straughn in the closing period 17-16 as a few youngsters Lady Tigers took the court and held the lead to the win, 53-31.
The top scorer for the Lady Tigers was Williamson with 12 points. She was closely followed by Hall who scored 11. Six other Lady Tigers added four points each.
Georgiana’s Lillie Boggan was the leading scorer in the game, scoring 18 points.
The Lady Tigers (14-6) will travel to East Brewton to take on W.S. Neal for a contest in the area on Thursday, January. 18.

The Tigers tried a furious attempt to overtake a massive gap to Georgiana but fell in the middle, losing 60-54.
Georgiana’s Noah Nelson provided the offensive explosion that helped propel his team to a quick 15-9 lead at the end of one quarter. Joseph Driver’s three-pointer along with the four points scored by Parker Black kept the Tigers close to the line.
The second quarter was not as scoring as both teams went home with just six points while Straughn was a bit behind at second half 21-15.
The Panthers increased their lead by an impressive offensive game in the 3rd period, beating Straughn 22-13 and expanding their lead to 43-28 heading into the fourth quarter. Driver hit three three-pointers in the third quarter to lead the Tigers.
The Tigers beat Georgiana by 26-14 during the last period. The team scored five three-pointers during the final stretch, including three being made by Kaden Wiggins, who scored an average of 18 points throughout the final quarter. Driver also hit a three-pointer, and Clark Gay added a basket. The deficit was too much to overcome and the Panthers were able to hold on for the win by 60-54.
The top scorer for the Tigers was Wiggins with 20 points, while Driver ended with 17. Black added nine points while Layne Grantham chipped in four points.
Nelson along with Nasir Cheatham each scored 12 points to lead the scoring of the Panthers. Quantavious Scott scored 10 points.
The Tigers (6-11) will play in an area contest against W.S. Neal on Thursday the 18th of January. 18.
