Mr. Morgan Lee Dewrell (92), died Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services will take place Friday, December 23, at 11 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. Friends and family are welcome to visit the family one hour before the service. Brothers Tommy Green and Eugene Meadows will officiate. In Sanford Cemetery, the First Baptist Church of Sanford Cemetery will be interred.
Ricky Hudson and Casey Shiver served as pallbearers. Joe Ptomey and Richard Jackson were also present.
His son Tim Walker (Sonya), of Andalusia, and his daughter Annie Long (Chris), of Andalusia are still with him; his grandchildren Ryan Walker, Meagan McDuffie, Devan, Andrew Vidich, Layne Long; great grandchildren Christian Walker, Finnleigh Taylor, Audrey Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
His first wife Margarete Dewrell and his brothers, Norman Dewrell and Clayton Dewrell (Margaret), as well as James Dewrell and Mary Sue preceded him in death.
He was an active soldier in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as well as the Vietnam War. His second tour was a rough one and he was wounded. For this, he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a founder member of Covenant Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.
