Covington County resident Eva Rae Norris celebrated her birthday on 103rd September during an evening with friends and family members at church on Sunday, September. 17.

The current resident is Florala, Norris has attended Enon Baptist Church her whole life. She spent her time with around 100 people who were in attendance.

“Reaching the age of 103 signifies that I’ve been able to be a part of five generations of kids. I am blessed that my family was taught to believe on Jesus Christ as the Lord,” Norris said.

Her name is on the list of twelve children and has a sister that is living. She got married Obie Norris on the 13th of March 1937, aged of 17 years old. The couple remained married for 51 years until his death in August 1988.

“My method of living is to faith in the Lord and work hard and be mindful of your own affairs,” she added.

Norris has been employed at her employer, the Florala Sewing Factory and has been widowed after her husband’s death and. She has six children, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 42 great-great-grandchildren.

“She is a wonderful model of an Godly woman to his family as well as friends many years. She loved to quilt and through the years, she has made all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and some great-great-grandchildren beautiful quilts. She was a strong pillar of faith for the family she loves,” Katie McLelland said.
