The Opp and Covington County Area Chamber of Commerce are now accepting applications to the 2023 Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo pageant.

The Opp High School auditorium will host the annual pageant at 3 p.m., and again at 6 pm. Friday, March 3rd at 6 and 7 pm will be the rehearsal for the pageant.

Kelly Brandin, Opp Chamber of Commerce Director, stated that she hopes to see many people participate in the pageant this year.

Applications for the pageant are available at the Opp Chamber office, on the chamber’s website at oppcoc.net, opprattlesnakerodeo.com, the Chamber’s Facebook page, Elan Formalwear, and P&J Formal Country.

Girls aged 6-21 are eligible to enter the pageant. Tiny Miss (6-8), Little Miss (9-11), Junior Miss (12-14), Teen Miss (12-14), Teen Miss (15-17), Miss (18-21). The Miss age group requires that contestants be single and not married.

A contestant whose birthday falls on or after March 17, 2023 may be eligible to be placed in the older age group. If this option is being considered, please inform the director. The Miss category is open to any senior girl, who is not yet 18 when the pageant takes place.

Award categories include photogenic, interview, best dressed and best smile. Each age group will award a crown and sash, flowers, and a special gift to the winners.

Tiny Miss and Little Miss contestants pay $40, $50, Junior Miss and Teen Miss are charged $50, and $100 for Miss.

Each age bracket can enter the Most Photogenic category. However, they are not required to take part in the category. Participants in the category will pay an additional $10. All submitted photos must include a headshot of 5×7 inches and be received by Friday, March 3.

The categories Best Dress, Best Hair, and Best Smile require an additional $5 entry fee.

All pageants must agree to take part in fundraising activities for the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo.
