Public Information Officer Sergeant. Darrell McMann said in a statement in a press release that Kory Morrill, age 25 from Opp was detained and was charged with possessing a controlled drug and possessing drug-related paraphernalia.

McMann told reporters that around 9:15 p.m. during the night when the suspect was arrested, APD officers responded to the area around at the Atmore Christian School on Tenant Drive for an individual who appeared to be suspicious.

McMann reported that responding officers contacted Morrill in the vicinity of the park.

“Morrill was incoherent and was acting oddly, leading officers to believe that he was intoxicated by drugs,” McMann said. “The officers located a glass pipe inside Morrill’s pocket, with a crystal-like substance that had been tested in the field positively in methamphetamine.”

Morrill was later transported into his detention facility at the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
