The Opp Police Department has arrested an individual suspected of being involved in a shooting incident that occurred in November.
William Antonio Edwards Jr. 27 from Opp was arrested on Sunday 10 December. 10, and was charged with firing a gun into the vehicle of a person who was inside.
On the 12th of November. 12 around 2.50 a.m., Opp police responded to reports about shots being fired along Hardin Street. They reported that a car had been hit by a bullet. The investigation by the Opp Police Department into the incident resulted in an arrest warrant being issued of Edwards who was subsequently identified as the perpetrator of the crime.
OPD officials have stated that Edwards probably wasn’t acting on his own and that the incident was part of a wider pattern of shots fired between Hardin and Barnes streets.
“The Opp Police Department is committed to confronting this issue directly and is actively seeking leads as well as conducting a thorough investigation to locate and identify the other people in the mix,” officials said.
