Two vehicles collided on February. 14 claimed one of the victims, one Opp man.
Dennis Edward Murphy, 70 was seriously injured in his 2021 Volkswagen Atlas he was driving hit head-on his 2020 Ford F-150 driven by Jeremy Clayton Powell 44, from Brundidge. Both Murphy nor Powell were wearing an airbag when they were involved in the collision and both were hurt and taken to hospitals in the area to receive treatment. Murphy eventually succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the Thursday of Feb. 16.
The accident occurred on Alabama 87, close to the 49-mile mark, which is approximately 16 miles to the north of Elba located situated in Coffee County.
Nothing more is available at this time since Troopers from ALLA’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to conduct an investigation.
