The Pilot Club in Andalusia recorded an impressive 2023, with two of the largest events of the year on the first weekend in December.
The Pilot Club hosted their annually scheduled Pancake with Sausage Breakfast on Dec. 2 on a Saturday. 2 and then followed it up with its annual Tour of Homes event on Sunday December. 3. Pilot Club President Meredith Harlos said it was a very well-organized and successful weekend.
“The Pilot Club is very grateful to the community their help with these two events and other initiatives all through the year. We began cooking pancakes in the early hours of 4:00 a.m. serving more than 1,000 plates during the annual pancake and sausage breakfast. This event is our biggest fundraising event of the year and this year was a huge turnout, especially considering the rain. There was no one who left the venue feeling hungry.” Harlos said.
According to Harlos Harlos, there were more than 150 tickets sold to this year’s Tour of Homes.
“We want to express our gratitude to the homeowners for being part of this special event. The houses were gorgeous. I’d also like to extend an appreciation for Pilot Members Betty Davis and Nancy Robbins for coordinating this event. We saw a record amount of tickets sold with more than 150 tickets sold.”
The Pilot Club will use funds generated by the two events to fund a variety of projects.
“The funds collected will be used to purchase snacks for caregivers, fidget pillows and Project Lifesaver. We’ll also make use of the funds to help sponsor campers and their caregivers to attend The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Camp in the month of April, at Camp ASCCA. We thank everyone in those Compass Club and Anchor Club members who supported these activities. They are the future of our Pilot Club. Special thanks go to Maggie Mash and Meg Shelnutt for their involvement with these children and adults and encouraging them to participate at events with us. Pilot Club events,” Harlos stated.
Harlos expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported the two events, and also acknowledged those who were fellow Pilot Club members.
“We wouldn’t be able to achieve our goals without your support. I also want to say thank you to all our pilots and co pilots. All of this wouldn’t be possible without your dedication and hard work. You’re truly an amazing illustration of how you can ‘Do More, Care More and Do More to the community we live in,” She said.
