LBW Community College will welcome Noah Galloway for its fourth Community Candid session on Tuesday April 4 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Dixon Center for the Performing Arts.

Community Candid is a set of events that are facilitated by LBW President Dr. Brock Kelley’s Community Leaders Diversity Committee.

“We are extremely excited to host Army Sergeant Noah Galloway for our fourth Community Candid session. It will be a unique event featuring a speaker that you shouldn’t miss. His story is so inspirational and we hope that people will come out to attend this event for free,” the LBWCC career Pathways Coordinator Jeanni Sanders said.

Galloway is the fourth speaker and will tell his inspirational tale of growth and recovery. Whitney Queen opened the five-part series on March 7 by presenting a series of discussions about financial planning and wellness the 7th of March. The Dr. Emma Cosby followed with the topic of peer pressure and mental health talk on the 14th of March. District Attorney Walt Merrell spoke about drug awareness and prevention on the 21st of March. The program will close on Monday, April 18 with Ebony Bradley focusing on social media and technology.

Galloway’s list of accomplishments range from Purple Heart recipient, author and health-conscious to a TV personality as well as a “Dancing with the Stars” finalist. Galloway placed third in the 20th season of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2015 along with His partner Sharna Burges who is who is an Australian professional choreographer and dancer.

The military was drafted in the year 2001 following the attacks of 9/11. Galloway was an officer in the First Battalion of the 502nd Infantry, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In his second deployment on December 5, 2005, the soldier was seriously injured by an unimprovised explosive device that was found in Iraq. His left arm went down just above the elbow and also his leg below the knee. His jaw and right leg were also injured badly, and he needed his jaw closed.

A decorated veteran of the military during 2014 Galloway appeared on the cover Men’s Health Magazine as the “Ultimate Guy,” a distinction that put him in the spotlight. In the year 2016 he published the book “Living with No Excuses: The Amazing Rebirth of an American Soldier.” He was the team leader to win on FOX Network’s debut Season of American Grit, featuring military-grade and survival-themed challenges.

Father of four frequently attributes his life of living with no excuses to his desire to be an example to his children.

The results of his efforts led him to create The No Excuses Charitable Fund and make his name known to support organizations that are in line with his beliefs. In June of 2016, Galloway accompanied students of Alabaster Alabama’s Thompson High School on a journey to Honduras. In Honduras, he and his students helped set up computers and chlorinators to supply fresh water.

His other TV appearances include “True Life,”” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,”” “Entertainment Tonight,”” “Good Morning America,”” “Extra,” “The CMT Music Awards,” “The Home and Family Show,”” along with “The The View.”

Galloway will address the crowd to show her gratitude for LBW Alabama RISE, a program for workers that assists students with a range of disabilities to achieve the goal of achieving employment success.

LBW invites all members of the community to join us. Saints Cafe will have extended hours, with a broader menu that includes kids’ meals. The LBW Adult Education Department will offer free childcare in the gym.
