Are you seeking something different to do for your evening? Make a note of your schedule and purchase tickets to “Tales From The Tomb” presented by ReAct Theatre and Arts.
“Tales From The Tomb” is an evening stroll that guides you in Magnolia Cemetery in Andalusia behind the Covington County Courthouse. It is not an event for ghosts, but an event that is historical in nature where the past is brought to life.
Participants will be divided into small groups, and be led by a narrator along an unlit path through the cemetery, where they will listen to short monologues of Andalusia’s past citizens, portrayed by actors dressed in costumes. It is expected to be an exciting excursion of the city’s most early citizens.
Produced by Roger Powell, the event is scheduled for Saturday October. 7 at 6 p.m. until approximately 8 p.m. Tickets holders must wear comfortable shoes and clothing and be ready to walk. Although most of the tour can be accessed via motorized scooters for disabled however, there is some areas that be difficult. The tour takes about 75 minutes.
Some of the characters that will be emphasized from the past of Andalusia include: Ary Duke Henry Opp and Addie Bell Opp Guy Lee Otis Battle, Mary Hill Randle, Mary Elizabeth Bellingrath Burnette, Pinkie Henderson Benson Z. D. Studstill and Mrs. Prestwood, the D.A. McArtan Family, Josiah Jones, Uncle Aus Prestwood, and Malachi and Anna Chapman Riley and a special tribute to Sidney and Polly Waits.
The deceased all have fascinating tales about their lives as well as their significance in the history of our country. These stories will be played by actors who are alive, including Carmen Martin, Frank Shaffer, Carol-Ann Mullins, Julie Knox, Era Grace Lowery, Sue Bass Wilson, Monica Bougafa, Shannon Glenn, Tanya Lambert, Kevin Kennedy, Lynn Capps, Matt Nelson, Vickie Nelson, Tommy McGaha, and Jennifer McClung.
Narrator guides who recount the story of Magnolia Cemetery. The groups that lead the tour comprise: Jamie Buhite, Don Cotton, Lori Godwin, Amy Jones, Holly Majors, Caryl Lee Ray, and Donna Skinner.
