Red Level dropped both games of a double-header with W.S. Neal Monday.

The Red Level’s Javen Poindexter laced an unintentional single in the first second game in a doubleheader game against W.S Neal on Monday. He hit a single and a double at the end of the 2nd game which resulted in three runs. (PHOTO ROBERT BLANKENSHIP)

Game 1, W.S. Neal 8, Red Level 6

In the opening game, the Eagles gained a significant advantage with six runs in the first quarter. Red Level battled back, but fell short, in the end with a score of 8-6.


Seven errors were a problem for the Tigers and included consecutive ground balls errors at the beginning of the game. After a few batters it was a triple that resulted in a 2-0 score for W.S. Neal. A second error resulted in Neal scoring his third run of the game. The Eagles scored two more runs during the game for an advantage of 6-0.


The Tigers defense slowed to a more comfortable level after the first game and the Eagles could not score in the sixth.

Red Level would get its offense moving in the bottom in the 3rd. After one strike, Malikye Wright reached on an unassisted single to center. She advanced to third after an RBI hit from Walker Simmons. With two outs Connor Blackwell showed some clutch hitting, smacking an RBI double to center field, bringing the home team of Wright and Simmons which cut W.S. Neal’s lead down to 6-1.


The Eagles added another score in the fifth’s top of the fifth after an unnatural pitch.


Red Level will continue to chip on the advantage and score two additional runs in the closing five.


in the closing game in the final inning, the Eagles made it 8-4, however the Tigers reduced the damage by using an end-of-inning double play.


In their final opportunity to score, Kennith Hucabaa scored a hit in the game for Red Level with a double to right field. Caleb Padgett scored the final run via an unintentional pitch. Huckabaa advanced to third however, Neal completed the game by striking out to win the game 8-6.


The leader of in the Red Level offensive was Blackwell with two hits and two RBI.


Brock Kelley pitched 4.2 innings and recorded two strikeouts. Buddy Griffin completed the game with 2.1 innings.

Second Game: W.S. Neal 12, Red Level 10

Red Level jumped out to the lead and held to it for the majority of the contest, but the Eagles made a comeback to take the win 12-10.


Red Level got things going in the middle in the 2nd. Blackwell started the inning by reaching after the pitch hit him. pitch. G. Hodges followed with an out. A bunt effort turned into an error to J. Poindexter allowing Blackwell to score and Hodges to make it to third. Padgett then hit a line-drive single to the center fielder which scored two runs. The Tigers added one more run in the second inning, thanks to an unforced error, and took an 4-0 lead into the third innings.


W.S. Neal reduced the deficit in half, scoring one run with two hits and one more by a balk in the face of The Tiger pitcher.


The Eagles were dominant in the fourth inning in which they scored three runs to lead 5-4.


A mistake in the final inning caused Red Level to tie the game 5-5. A couple of errors helped keep the momentum moving in the favor of Red Level as they brought two more runs. A RBI double from the bat of Simmons completed four runs, leaving Red Level once again leading 8-5.


Neal put it in one-point games in the fifth inning and added two more runs however, Red Level kept pace scoring two of their own runs in the final third of the innings. Huckabaa hit the first of these runs with one hit, and Padgett scored via a wild pitch raising Red Level to a 10-7 lead.


The score didn’t change until Neal began in the seventh with an RBI single and a double. Many errors and fielder’s choices actions aid the Eagles in 5 runs during the seventh inning and then taking a lead of 12-10 that was the game’s final.


The leaders of the Tiger offense was Javen Poindexter who scored two hits with three RBI along with three run scored. Walker Simmons had two hits with one RBI and Caleb Padgett had a double and two walks. He finished having two RBI and scoring three runs.
