Shaw Industries has been named as a 2023 Leadership Award recipient by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Shaw was among five winners from all over the world who were honored in the USGBC Leadership Awards Ceremony which was held on Thursday, September. 28 at the annual Greenbuild Conference in Washington, D.C.

“USGBC members are the main for the global eco-friendly building trend, assisting the entire construction industry to push to build more sustainable, healthier cities,” said Peter Templeton the president and CEO of USGBC. “The winners the this year’s Leadership Awards exemplify their unwavering commitment to sustainable solutions and contribute significantly to the collective pursuit of global climate goals.”

Shaw was praised in the eyes of USGBC for its commitment to sustainability. They defined it as efforts to improve the sustainability of our environment and human health as well as social equality within the constructed environment. Shaw’s work in certifying products that earn LEED building credits allows clients to select products that coincide with building owners’ efforts to design environments and spaces that promote wellbeing and health of the people and the planet.

Kellie Ballew who is vice president of sustainability in the global market at Shaw and was present at the event to honor the winners which was which was held on the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. She expressed her gratitude for the award, “I was humbled to receive this prestigious award from the USGBC. It requires designers, manufacturers and architects, along with owners of buildings and their users who work together to address the global issues of climate change, health and well-being, circularity, and social equity. I am very proud of the leadership Shaw has shown in these fields as well as the partnerships we’ve enjoyed with USGBC throughout time.”

In 2023, the Leadership Award recipients represent some of the top of the more than 6,000 USGBC members, a community of committed professionals who have completed over 100,000 LEED projects spread across over 180 nations and regions across the globe. The achievements of the winners are outstanding examples of sustainability-focused leadership in an expanding and thriving collection of companies, projects and individuals.
