A unique fundraiser Home and Gardens Tour fundraising event that will feature celebrity chefs Sister Schubert and Brenda Gantt on Saturday, will help Bethesda House.
The event will take place in the house of sister Schubert and Gantt as well as Gantt will be available to autograph copies of their works. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available at bethesdahouseofmercy.com. Other artisans from the area are helping out at the event.
Bethesda House is a nationally accredited shelter for domestic violence which means that the shelter’s programs management, services, and management have all been carefully examined and have met the highest standards of practice at the national level.
Bethesda House Bethesda House provides temporary and long-term protection for mothers and children who are battling domestic violence. The charity also assists with medical issues and counseling in addition to providing educational programs that include managing money, job training, GED preparation, and help to find employment.
Bethesda House has the distinction of being the only nationally-accredited domestic violence shelter in Alabama that provides both temporary and long-term assistance.
The program is entirely supported by the financial contributions from foundations, individuals and companies. Bethesda House is not able to receive federal or state funds. However, upon receiving its national and state certification, Bethesda House will be qualified to apply for federal funds.
The group also assists victims of domestic violence navigate the courts and assist with legal expenses.
Allison Jackson Woods serves as Bethesda House as its director.
One of the goals currently being pursued by Bethesda House is renovating a house on its property into an apartment that will create additional shelter spaces.
Fundraisers, like those for the Home and Garden Tours, can go a long way to aiding Bethesda House continue aiding women and children.
“Bethesda House” plays an significant role in our community. It is sadly a much-needed service. Events such as those of the Home and Gardens Tour helps to spread awareness about the people we represent and the work is our mission,” said Nancy Eldredge chair of the Bethesda House Board of Directors.
As a non-profit organization, Bethesda House depends greatly on the generosity of those around it such as volunteers who donate their time and talents to the organization.
People who contribute their talents to the Saturday’s Home and Gardens Tour, along with Gantt as well as Sister Schubert, are: Alan Cotton of Alan Cotton Flowers; Allie Nielsen of Vine and Branch; Mary Catherine Folmar of Cotton and Quill; Samantha Mercer of Sam’s Forever Flowers; Jessie Stephens of South House Interiors; Jared Boutwell Landscape designer; Francie Chambers who specializes in botanicals pressed, along with Artist Marian Barnes who will have three of her paintings on auction.
Each of Schubert along with Gantt will be available to sign copies of their works.
