Communities Development Funds is one method by which Southeast Gas invests in Andalusia and other communities throughout Southeast Alabama. By 2022 the firm revamped its strategy for economic development by putting the importance of community development to aid commercial enterprises that are already operating or are slated to open in the areas that are served through Southeast Gas.
Southeast Gas Director of Community Development Jimmy Black is working in conjunction with CCEDC and The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce as well as additional local economic development organizations chambers of commerce and associations like such as the Alabama Retailers Association and the Alabama Center for Real Estate to assist and strengthen efforts to find and retain commercial businesses within the region.
“Helping communities such as Andalusia prosper and enhance the quality of life for everyone who lives there is our top priority,” Black said. “For certain communities, this might mean helping to develop and market underdeveloped parcels of land. For other communities, it could be as easy as establishing an overall vision for the community and long-term plans. Whatever the size or small the community is, there are ways for us to help the community by providing the greatest benefit to each of them. .”
Alongside direct financial assistance, Southeast Gas invests thousands of dollars every year to help promote the growth of businesses throughout Greenville as well as Southeast Alabama through infrastructure expansion programs, incentives and rebates and massive community-based projects that benefit local schools as well as non-profits.
Southeast Gas provides natural gas service to over 32,000 customers across 36 communities across Southeast Alabama and is owned by 14 cities: Abbeville, Andalusia, Brundidge, Dothan, Elba, Enterprise, Eufaula, Fort Deposit, Greenville, Headland, Luverne, Opp, Ozark along with Troy.
