Family members, friends, and officials from the court were present at the presentation and reception.

Jones was elected municipal judge in 2008. He is retiring to start a new job at the Alabama Secretary-of-State as assistant attorney general.

Mayor Johnson stated that Jones has reorganized the municipal court and improved efficiency. He also said that Jones used his experience as a municipal judge and family law to influence legislation that would improve the lives of those families who are incarcerated.

This legislation allowed those who lost driving privileges due to legal reasons to obtain a restricted license that allows them to drive to work.

Jones thanked all the professionals at the municipal court, from the defense attorneys and prosecutors to the court referral officer and the probation officers.

He spoke out about many things he learned from his time as a judge at a municipal court. These lessons he brought back to Montgomery to help improve legislation.

Jones, a family lawyer, has been practicing law in Andalusia for over a decade. From 2010 to 2022, he was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives. He also served as chairman of the powerful Rules Committee for the past four years.
