It was reported that the City of Andalusia’s 2023-24 Ambassadors were first officially commissioned on November. 5 as they assisted in the Covington Veteran Association’s “Celebration of Heroes.” They also were an integral part of that City of Andalusia’s Veterans Day events on Nov. 11.
The 2018 ambassadors are Andalusia High School students who are involved in all aspects of high school life and in a variety of extra-curricular activities. They are supervised by Mrs. Jerri Stroud and Mrs. Debbie Posey, and are chosen by a panel that conducts oral and written interviews.
Parker Adams is a senior at AHS and plays baseball as well as football. He is a part of Usher Club and Spanish Club and is also a part of his Mill Creek Baptist Church youth group. The Adams son is Kyle as well as Tori Adams, and plans to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering in the fall at Mississippi State University.
Nataleigh Brown is an AHS senior. She is a part of the AHS broadcasting staff, Anchor Club, Key Club and Andala staff. She also is the junior director for Meredith’s Miracles. The daughter is Leigh Hugghins and Tony Brown and is planning to study journalistic broadcasting at Auburn University.
Cade Cassady is an AHS junior. He plays baseball and gold at AHS and is a member of the youth group at First Baptist Church. He is also a fan of water sports and shooting skeets. His parents are Mike as well as Candace Cassady, and plans to pursue a degree in biology in biology at Auburn University.
Nyla Crittenden is a AHS senior. She is the vice president of her class and head of the Usher Club, secretary of the Student Government Association, vice president of FCCLA and an active part of both the National Honors Society and Spanish Club. She plays clarinet in AHS The sound Tradition,and dances at Andalusia Dance Tumbling, Cheer and Tumbling (ADTC). Her mother is Tiffany Stallworth, and plans to complete a pre-veterinary medical course with an integrative Biology degree at Auburn University.
Amari Larkin is an AHS junior. He plays for the team for football, has been involved in Meals on Wheels, and is a part of his role in the First Baptist Church Whatley Street’s youth department. The son is Traci Locke. He plans to pursue a degree in the field of computer science while in the fall at Auburn University.
Brody Lee is an AHS senior who is involved in the band, tennis, Usher Club, Key Club and Spanish Club. The Lees are the children of Randall Lee and Katie Lee, and plans to pursue a degree at Auburn University.
John Logan Long is an AHS senior. He is the president of Key Club, Student Government Association treasurer class treasurer as well as Usher Club treasurer. The saxophone team leader of The AHS’s A Sound Tradition, a member of the National Honor Society, and is as a member of the Memolusia staff. His parents are Rik as well as Kristin Long, who intend to pursue a business degree at Auburn as well as an undergraduate degree in law at Alabama.
Cape Merrell is an AHS senior. AHS. She is the Student Government Association president, is the captain of the cheerleaders on varsity and is a part of the team volleyball. She is also a member of the Youth Leadership Council, Anchor Club, Usher Club and National Honor Society. The daughter is Walt Merrell and Hannah Merrell and plans to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech.
Ivy Rogers is an AHS senior who dances with the Andalusia Ballet and is a AHS majorette and is a part of the First United Methodist Church. The girl is Covington County’s most Most Outstanding Young Woman and will participate at the Alabama DYW Program in the month of January. Her parents are Scott as well as Tina Rogers who plans to pursue biomedical science as her first attempt to become dermatologist.
Hugh Wallace Stovall is a AHS senior. He plays tennis and football as well as being a member of both the National Honor Society and the Usher Club, and is involved with his First Methodist Church youth group. He is also a fan of fishing and hunting. His parents are Justin Stovall and Ashley Stovall and plans to study forestry at Auburn University.
Ava Tomberlin is an AHS senior. She is class president and vice-president of the Student Government Association, a majorette, as well as a member of Key Club, Peer Helpers, Usher Club and Spanish Club. The daughter is John Tomberlin and Krystal Tomberlin who plan to pursue chemistry/pre-med in the chemistry department at Auburn University. She hopes for an awakening.
Cindy Williams is an AHS senior. She is a part of the color guard and band, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Key Club, Usher Club, Student Government Association and the Memolusia yearbook staff. She also dances with Andalusia Ballet. The Williams’ daughter is Hui Williams and Gary Williams, and plans to pursue graphic design studies and graphic design at Auburn University.
The ambassador committee takes applications that are given out by AHS counselors each spring.
