Qualifying for the upcoming election that will take three positions in the Andalusia City Schools Board of Education.
The school board of the city is comprised of five members who represent particular district within the town. The elections for board members are rotated, with three seats to be determined this year, and two to be determined in 2025. The seats that will be voted on in the current election are from Dist. 1, Dist. 3 3, and Dist. 5.
The process for determining who will be elected to the school board positions will continue until July 18 2023. The election will take place on the 22nd of August 2023. The polls will be open at 7 a.m. until seven p.m. in Kiwanis Community Building. Kiwanis Community Building. A runoff is scheduled on Tuesday, October. 3 if no candidate gets an overwhelming large majority.
School board member’s positions are elected by the district’s voters. District 2 residents and District 4 won’t be able to vote for school board members during this election. These seats are currently being held by Parrish King and Amy Dugger, who currently is president on the school board.
At the very least, some of the positions being considered for election in the coming year will see an incoming member. David Bryant, representing Dist. 3, has stated that he won’t run for another term. The two seats remaining are being held currently by Sammy Glover, Dist. 1 as well as David McCalman, Dist. 5.
Bryant has been as a board member since October 2002, and has stated that, after 21 years on the board, he decided that the time was right to retire.

Together, we’ve been working hard to create the environment in which students flourish and can reach their potential to the fullest extent. Our successes together are the direct result of your cooperation and commitment. Thank you for supporting me, for promoting this cause and contributing to making Andalusia City Schools the exceptional system that it is today. The legacy of excellence the schools were built on is still in place and I am proud to be a Bulldog.”
