The annual St. Patrick’s Day tradition that began over 25 years ago is designed to bring mothers from the area and daughters together to enjoy a relaxing time during an annual parade held at Biloxi, Mississippi.
This was the first year that the tradition could occur since the pandemic started in the year 2020. It was reported that 15 people took part in the parade on Saturday, March 11.
“Most moms were employed in Shaw Industries several years ago and the first trip was an excursion for friends. Through the years we’ve kept the tradition going , and in the past we have added our daughters and daughters-in-law to have a blast. This is a time where everyone can relax and unwind, and connect with our friends,” Mellisa King said.
Because of the pandemic that has afflicted the ladies, they haven’t been able to gather to march in the past three years.
“We were thrilled to be able to return again this year. We had nine of us traveling together, as well as six other guests who came to the occasion. We’ve seen a lot more fun in the of the past. The parade has a lot of similarities with Mardi Gras parades. They hand out beads as well as stuffed animals, snacks and hats to mention just a few. While the parade ran for less than one hour it was an enjoyable opportunity for us to come together and have fun with each other’s presence. .”
King was thankful for the time spent with her mother and other acquaintances.
“I am grateful to be able to spend moments with mom and other friends who feel as close to family. The pace of life seems to move rapid-fire fashion, so I appreciate every minute I have to spend with my mother. We’re just a group of friends trying to spend time with our beloved mommas. Everyone should find the time to do activities with those they cherish,” she said. “I always anticipate this event every calendar year,”” Linda Willis added.
After the parade The group was then allowed to go out for take a bite and discuss the happenings of life.
“We laughed often and talked about our travels during the last few years. There are many funny stories and memories we’ve created. The ones who had the desire to gamble for a few dollars,” King said.
for Michelle Armstrong, this trip will mark three generations of memories that will last a lifetime with her family and her friends.
“I enjoy making moments with mom. The year was more enjoyable to take my daughters along with us and take part in the parade. Also, we were able to grill on the green with a family of three. The memories we leave behind are worth every penny,” Armstrong said.
Christy Carter made her first trip in four years, and she felt exactly the same way as Armstrong.
“All of the girls in our class went to school with our moms, and we all were also working together. Then we raised our children and continued to cherish the friendships that we’ve made as we are enjoying our families’ growth,” Carter said.
