The United States Postal Service filed notification to the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) of price adjustments for postal services to be effective January. 21st 2024. The new rates include a 2 cent increase in the cost of the FirstClass Mail Forever stamp. Class Mail Forever stamp, from 65 cents to 68 cents.

The proposed adjustments, which were approved by governors from the Postal Service, would raise prices for products used in the postal service by around 2 percent. If the proposed price increases are approved by the commission, the proposed price adjustments could include:

  • Letters (1 1 ounce) Increase by 66 cents up to 68 cents
  • Letters (metered 1 one ounce) Increase from 64 cents to 63 cents
  • Domestic Postcards: Increase between 51 and 53 cents
  • International Postcards: Increase by $1.50 to $1.55
  • International Letter (1 1 ounce) Increase in value from $1.50 to $1.55

There is no changes to the additional-ounce cost, which is set the same at 24 cents. Postal Service Postal Service is also seeking price adjustments for Special Services products including Certified Mail, Post Office Box rental charges, money order charges and the cost of purchasing insurance for sending an item.

“As the pressures of inflation on operating costs continue to increase and the consequences of a previous flawed pricing model continue to be felt, price adjustments are required to give to the Postal Service with much needed revenues to attain the financial stability desired through the delivery to America Plan for the next 10 years. The cost for Postal Service Postal Service remain among the lowest in the world,” according to a USPS statement.

The PRC will be reviewing the changes prior to when they go into effect. The complete Postal Service price filing, with prices for all products, can be found on the PRC website under the Daily Listings section at prc.arkcase.com/portal/home. The price tables are also available on the Postal Service’s Postal Explorer website at pe.usps.com/PriceChange/Index.
