A former Andalusia residence Jenny Anderson Waltman was recently honored in a recent ceremony by Samford University in Birmingham as the winner of the university’s 2023 Humanitarian of Year Award.

She is an student in 1995 at Andalusia High School alumna and 1998 Samford University graduate. Waltman is the child of Ziba and Pennye Anderson of Andalusia and the CEO, founder and chairperson of Grace Klein Community, a non-profit organization based in Birmingham.
This Humanitarian of the Year award is awarded to Samford graduates who have earned excellence, respect and a reputed leadership. They are recognized for their selfless service and tirelessly for the improvement of the lives of people around them as well as society in general by staying loyal and committed to Samford’s mission. One of Grace Klein’s most significant programs, FEEDBHM, supplied over 2 million pounds of food in 2022. This will serve 1.7 million meals with 47,053 hours of volunteer time along with 240 community food donations. Apart from food items, Grace Klein seeks to build community and share the faith of Christ in relationally, emotionally, and spiritually. They meet concrete needs, run houses for communities to host out of state serve teams, and collaborate with missionaries from all over the globe.
in 2021 Waltman wrote “God Choose The Wrong Person,” a autobiography that chronicles her experiences while offering an encouragement to anyone feeling inadequate. The author graduated in 2021 from Samford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies.
