Anniston, AL – Hayley H. Long and the Anniston Runners Club (ARC) are getting ready to hold the annual Plucked Thanksgiving 10K run at the Norwood Hodges Community Center on the 23rd of November on a Thursday beginning at 8:00 am. What started out as an exercise for the morning of Thanksgiving has grown into a beloved event that is a tradition of the community and not just promotes fitness, but also supports the cause of charity.

All participants will be invited to begin the Thanksgiving season by completing the picturesque 6.2-mile accredited course that runs through the beautiful Golden Springs community. The ARC event is an event to raise money for the YMCA and focuses on the importance of giving back to the community.

This event has been designed to be suitable for everyone of all levels of fitness, and welcomes walkers and runners to take part in the fun. Families are invited to take part as a team, building the sense of community and a healthy exercise.

One of the highlights in this Plucked Turkey 10K is the amazing array of prizes that await participants. The male and female overall winners will be presented with delicious turkey breasts thanks to the Honey Baked Ham Company. Third and second place finishers in both female and male categories will receive tasty Yummy Pies.

Age group awards are an additional layer in competition. There are categories that span between 9 and less to 80+ and above giving recognition to those from all different ages.

To add a festive flair to the celebration To make the event more festive, the first 125 participants will be given a commemorative bamboo spatula decorated to bear the Plucked Turkey logo. This unique registration reward will add a personal touch to the event that is themed around Thanksgiving.

The course has been accredited and chip timing will be used which will allow participants to use their results in races which require corral timing for instance, Peachtree 10K. Peachtree 10K.
