Anniston, AL –On Saturday April 8th, from 9:30 am until 11:15 am. Blackberry Hill Alpaca Farm will be the site for this special event. Through time, people have braided with a variety of techniques. In this class the our guest tutor Julie Brown will focus on Kumihimo and fingerloop braiding. Kumihimo is a Japanese word that means “gathered threads” is a popular type of rope weaving that originated in Japan. Julie will show you how you can make your own Marudai (braiding stand) and how to use it to create yourself a rope, and cut it to suit infinite possibilities. Then we will learn about the importance of using fingerloop braiding the ancient method of manipulating loops in Medieval times. Then, we will make braids of a variety of dimensions and shapes.
