Calhoun County, AL Calhoun County, AlabamaThe National Association of Counties (NACo) President Mary Jo McGuire reappointed Calhoun County, AL Commissioner Lee Patterson for a term of one year serving as NACo’s Vice Chair. Rural Action Caucus.
McGuire is a county commissioner in Ramsey County, Minn. He announced his leadership choices shortly after his inauguration as the NACo’s president the 24th of July the end of NACo’s annual conference. the country’s largest gathering of county officials. A member of NACo for a number of years, Patterson is also a member of the Veterans and Military Services Committee.
The Commissioner Lee Patterson spoke with the Calhoun Journal and shared that the Commissioner was “Very happy to be in this role because it’s important to have the an official from Calhoun County recognized on a national scale.” Commissioner Patterson went on to express his gratitude by the chance and is looking forward to the opportunity to continue serving as Vice Chair of NACo in this capacity in the Vice Chair position. Commissioner Patterson further stated that “Calhoun County is flourishing, and that’s not just because of due to the efforts of Commissioners. It’s due to the leadership of the county, all of the business owners and all the residents who join forces to help build this county and not to destroy it. There are wonderful people that belong to the county. Every day that serving them is a great day for me.”
The NACo’s Rural Action Caucus is the voice of rural counties in America in front of Congress and in the Administration. About two-thirds (or more) of the country’s 3,069 counties are classified as rural, and have the total 60 million people living there. Local elected representatives from regions are committed to addressing numerous issues that affect the development and life of rural areas. This includes the development of infrastructure, broadband deployment as well as the creation of rural clinics, hospitals, bridge and road building and repair, opportunities for business development and many other county-related responsibility.
