After winning the Wednesday’s Calhoun County final, Oxford was able to get a team of four-hitters of Eli Bozeman, Peyton Watts and Carter Johnson and beat Hewitt-Trussville 4-2 on Thursday at Choccolocco’s iconic field. Watts began and pitched the five innings, giving up four hits, four earned runs, and two walks , with three strikeouts and Johnson pitched the sixth without a hit, with one strikeout , and one walk. Bozeman completed his perfect seventh inning , with two strikeouts. Forrest Heacock had the Yellow Jackets highlights in the field, hitting 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Hayes Harrison went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Johnson as well as Nick Richardson each hit a double. Oxford was being ranked as No. 2 in the Class 6A rankings in the season’s opening Alabama Sports Writers Association poll which improved to 12-3.

PiEDMONT 10-13 WEAVER 0-0First-game pitcher Brodie Homesley along with the second-game tandem consisting of Jack Hayes and Cole Austin joined forces to limit Weaver to just six hits. Hayes pitched four innings to earn the victory in the nightcap, giving up two hits and one walk while striking out seven and Austin completed a perfect fifth inning, allowing just one strikeout. Max Hanson was the offensive star in the opening game hitting 2-for-4 and a home run, a triple two runs as well as four RBIs. Jonah Pike had a single 2 RBIs, a run, and a single in addition to Hayes hit a home run. Kale Austin was 2-for-4 as did Jake Austin drove in a run. Owen Petty went 2-for-2 with two runs and a double while Christopher Carter went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs. Waters contributed to his cause by going 1-for-2 and scoring two RBIs and two runs. In the opening game, Petty and Mason Jairrels were responsible for Saks who scored two RBIs. Hopkins and Jairrels were responsible for Saks two hits. In Wellborn’s Tanner Ingram had two hits and scored a run in Game 1. Ethan Carroll drove in two runs in Game 2.

DONOHO 11-9 SAND ROCK 2:Peyton Webb pitched a 3-hitter with nine strikeouts during Game 1. Hayes Farrell and Nic Thompson together pitched three-hit for Game 2. Lucas Elliott led the way offensively, with four hits on the day including a triple, as well as two doubles. He drove in four runs. Allyssa Hunt and Christian Hess each singled and added two runs and Charlee Parris scored one hit and an RBI. Alexandria is currently 12-7.

Blake Sewell came up big in Wednesday’s opening game of the Donoho’s Class IIA, Region 13 match with Sand Rock. The junior pitcher pitched a one-hitter and struck out six batters in five innings in which the Falcons beat Sand Rock 10-0 to take triumph at home. Sewell was also 2-for-3, with two runs, a double with three RBIs. Peyton Webb paced Donoho at the plate, hitting 2-for-3, with the home run with three runs, with four RBIs. Additionally for Donoho, Lucas Elliott had an RBI, a double as well as an RBI. Marcus Lawler went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Hayes Farrell had a single and an RBI.
