Weaver, AL – With Southern Union adding women’s soccer and senior Chavez is able to take advantage, announces and gets his team to the top of the league for Weaver High program
A brand new female soccer squad gave the possibility for Ximena Chavarria to play after the high school.
The Weaver senior was signed on Wednesday to participate in Southern Union Community College. The official signing took place in a ceremony held in Weaver High School. She became one of the few Weaver soccer player who has signed to play in a collegiate soccer league.
“Southern Union is hosting their first female soccer team, and I’ve been part of many milestones at Weaver High School,” she explained. “I realized that Southern Union … was my home with coach Mac (Matthews) demonstrated how thrilling this was for him and the other female soccer players.
“My originally thought was to enroll at Auburn University, but ending my football career in the high school level was something that I was certain I wouldn’t like to see come to an end.”
Chavez was averaging 32 shots, and scored nine goals along with just one assist as senior. She also saved one shot. It was a save. Read more stories about sports…]
