Anniston, AL -Anniston, AL – With temperatures that are expected to be freezing to hit the area this weekend and into next weekend, the City of Anniston encourages residents to take appropriate precautions. To address the predicted weather conditions, a free warm-up station will be located in The Bridge, located within Anniston First United Methodist Church located at 1400 Noble St, Anniston, AL 36201.
It will be operational starting at 5:00 PM CST during the evening, offering warmth and shelter, and will shut down at 8:00 am CST on Sunday 10 December 2023 until the 12th of December 2023. It is crucial to remember that the duration of the station may be extended if forecasts for weather require changes.

Organizations and groups that volunteer are welcome to participate in the preparation of dinners and breakfasts in the warm-up station. The Warming Station is activated whenever temperatures are expected to be at or above 36 degrees below. In addition, the station takes into consideration the possibility of inclement weather like rain, to ensure the safety and security of those who rely upon its assistance. This program is enabled by the Anniston City Council’s Community Task Force on Homelessness which is led by the United Way of East Central Alabama and in collaboration together with Anniston First United Methodist Church, Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County, MeMe’s Heart along with His Hands and Feet Ministries.
