Anniston, AL –The Anniston City Council Anniston is asking residents to prepare for frigid temperatures that are expected to strike the region next week. To prepare for the predicted colder weather the city has a public warming station that will be opening it’s doors in The Bridge at Anniston First United Methodist Church (1400 Noble St, Anniston, AL 36201) from Monday 27th November 2023. The station will be operational nightly between 5:00 PM and 8:15 AM from Monday to the 30th of November 2023.

The residents are suggested to be aware of an additional schedule adjustment on the 29th of November 2023. shelter will be open from 6:30 pm.

Volunteer groups and associations are vital to the successful operation in the operation of this warming facility, particularly in preparing meals for meals and breakfasts. The Warming Station is open when the forecast temperature is expected to be at least 36 degrees below. The station also considers different weather conditions like rain, to ensure the safety and security of the people who rely on its services. This crucial initiative is possible because of the efforts of the Anniston City’s Community Task Force on Homelessness. The task force is led by the United Way of East Central Alabama The task force is in partnership and with Anniston First United Methodist Church, Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County, MeMe’s Heart, and His Hands and Feet Ministries.
