Jacksonville, AL –Per the JSU Press department, work is expected to begin during spring break on the three construction projects that were approved by the JSU Board of Trustees at the end of October. They include the construction of a North Village residence hall to be constructed in the shadow of Sparkman Hall, a new dining establishment behind Curtiss Hall and a new football operations center located at JSU Stadium.

“JSU remains an innovative institution thanks to its major capital projects for transformation of the campus,” said Dr. Kevin Hoult, associate vice for auxiliary and business services. “The new campus spaces that JSU has reimagined will help create a flourishing learning and living community that meets the needs of today – and into the future. JSU’s current capital projects are the construction of a new dining hall, residence hall along with athletic and recreational facilities.”

It is the North Village Residence Hall is the first residence hall built since Meehan Hall opened in 2010 The facility is scheduled to start housing students in the first year in the fall of 2024. It is located next to Crow, Patterson and Sparkman Halls, it will provide 513 beds, which are desperately needed for student living in shared suites that consist of two separate double occupancy rooms , with two bathrooms per room. First floor is going to function as the central point of contact for residents. It will include an impressive lobby, complete with reception desks as well as staff workstations, as well as a security office. Residents will also have access to games room, a TV room and conference room, as well as patio seats, first floor laundry room, storm shelter , and vending machines with self-service.

The brand new Jax State Dining Hall will replace the old Jack Hopper Dining Hall. It will be situated close to Curtiss Hall, the new structure will have a larger eating space and an executive dining room and administration offices. The facility will have an old-fashioned food service featuring a variety of concepts stations and an entire kitchen for preparation behind the building. The contemporary seating area will give students a comfortable area to gather over meals.

The Loring and Debbie White Football Complex will The Loring and Debbie White Football Complex willreplace the current field house situated at JSU Stadium. This two-level structure will feature an all-day club lounge/player lounge as well as a field club space at the top. The second level will have eight suites, as well as two executive super suites that have access to the deck. The facility will offer state-of-the art technology, training equipment Hydrotherapy, coach’s office as well as additional meeting rooms. A central concourse for players allows players to move easily through the building , maximizing their valuable training time. A football hall of Fame is planned to complete the design featuring displays and graphics which highlight the football team’s achievements and history.

Parking on campus will be affected in the coming 18 months due to these initiatives.
