New stadium lights illuminated the sky in Donoho the night of Tuesday. The Falcons soccer pitch was illuminated up for an event in addition, it was also the Falcon baseball team was sporting new lighting as they began the new season with their first home game at night in its history. The Donoho crowd poured into the stadium and filled it with fans and witnessed their Falcons perform a stunning performance, winning the win by 15-0 against Faith Christian.
Donoho hit 14 times and three pitchers teamed up to let just one hit delight the home crowd. “It was something that was new for our team,” Donoho coach Steve Gendron stated. “We had no normal routine since we’ve never played an evening game at home. “Our children loved it but they also got to practice batting before the game. We’ve never had the practice in the past.”
The practice of batting must have been beneficial as each batting spot on the roster had a hit. First inning Donoho since the Falcons started swinging. Lucas Elliot ripped a triple to score Nic Thompson (walk) in the first strike. Peyton Webb followed with a massive home run that went to the right-center field and give the Falcons an 3-0 lead.
Blake Sewell blasted a triple to rightfield, but was left in the dust at third after Faith pitching Brady Whitworth fanned Ty Cleckler and Sam Montgomery to end the game. The Falcons took their lead to 4-0 during the second inning thanks to Marcus Lawler’s RBI single. The floodgates swung open in the third inning’s final inning, as Donoho hit seven hits, eight runs with a walk, and hit-batter. Sewell scored the most important hit of the game by hitting a three-run double. Shawn Keel added a two-run single.
