Montgomery, AL –Governor Kay Ivey announced today on Monday, 2/6/23, the beginning of Sheriffs’ Grants to the entire state of Alabama’s 67 counties.

The sheriff’s departments of every one of the state’s 67 counties will receive money every quarter starting in the very first quarter in 2023. The amount of money each county will receive is determined by the money the county sheriff’s departments collected from permits for pistols in 2022.

“A two of the fundamental tenets in the Ivey Administration is that we believe in blue in the strongest manner possible , and we are committed to the protection of the rights of our people’s Second Amendment rights. We have modified Alabama law to aid gun owners, we’ve also made sure that our sheriffs got their crucial funds. I am happy to say that the grants achieve this ,”said Governor Ivey. “The Sheriffs Grants will give them funds for training, equipment and other items not funded by county commissions as part of their annual budgets. We are proud of supporting the crucial work that sheriffs’ department does on a every day basis.”
