Montgomery, AL – On Thursday, Governor Kay Ivey announced three major infrastructure projects. She also said that since she became governor she has made infrastructure for transportation an absolute priority, working towards addressing the state’s slow progress on roads by reinvesting in infrastructure throughout the state. In the year 2019 Governor Ivey adopted the Rebuild Alabama Act, her legislative plan to tackle Alabama’s infrastructure challenges. In support of the state’s infrastructure, she has secured more than 170 million in funding for transportation projects 400 miles of roads that have been resurfaced and 234 brand new bridge and road projects that are in all the 67 counties. She says Rebuild Alabama is a “Proven investments in the public’s security, economic development, and overall growth and growth that is Alabama.” With Governor Ivey’s direction more than 1,500 bridge and road projects totaling $5 billion have been implemented all across Alabama. The governor was joined by Alabama Department of Transportation Chief Engineer Ed Austin, ALDOT Regional Engineer DeJarvis Leonard, Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato, Trussville Mayor Buddy Choat, Jefferson County Commissioner Joe Knight, and Shelby County Commissioner Kevin Morris.
