Montgomery, AL –Governor Kay Ivey on Monday advised Alabamans to start preparing for school by taking part in Alabama’s annual Back-to School Sales Tax Holiday that runs from Friday July 21 to the 23rd of July on a Sunday.
Since certain items are exempt from state sales tax residents will have the chance for saving cash while acquiring the items students require to get through the school year. Things that can be purchased during the weekend include the traditional school equipment and computers, in addition to school uniforms, gymsuits and other kinds of clothes.
“With the end of summer fast approaching I’m sure Alabama families are starting to get ready for the rapidly nearing school term,” said Governor Ivey. “During this tax-free weekend, pencils, calculators, binders, and other school supplies that are essential to students are available for purchase without tax. I urge everyone to make use of this opportunity, so that parents, students and teachers alike are well-equipped to face the new school year.”

Municipalities and counties that decide to join can join the state in removing their local taxes on sales and use from the same products during this same time frame.
