Montgomery, AL – Governor Kay Ivey on Tuesday hosted an official bill signing ceremony for the legislation that was approved in the 2023 Regular Session.


Following bills were signed ceremonially by Governors:


  • The bill was introduced of Rep. Ginny Shaver and Sen. Arthur Orr

    • The state’s adoption process is streamlined and revises the existing adoption law language. (Act 2023-092)

  • HB 64, introduced from Rep. Joe Lovvorn and Sen. Andrew Jones

    • This bill permits certain firefighters as well as law enforcement officers and correctional officers included under TRS or ERS, to purchase ERS or TRS to purchase dangerous duty hours for prior service. (Act 2023-101)

  • The bill is HB 164, introduced from Rep. Andy Whitt and Sen. Jay Hovey

    • The law requires students in high school to take a financial literacy and management course prior to the time they are allowed to graduate. (Act 2023-179)

  • SB 131, introduced by Sen. Vivian Figures and Rep. Steve Clouse

    • The bill transfers the regulation of funeral contracts with pre-requisites of the Department of Insurance to the Alabama Board of Funeral Services. (Act 2023-094)

  • SB 28 of Senator. Tim Melson and Rep. Randy Wood

    • The bill broadens its scope for podiatry to include the treatment of the ankle and foot. (Act 2023-106)

  • SB 104, introduced by the senator. Chris Elliott and Rep. David Faulkner

    • The bill updates the Dram Shop Act by addressing the liability of alcohol providers who inflict injury on an uninvolved party. (Act 2023-025)

  • HB 56, introduced by Rep. Frances Holk-Jones as well as Senator. Linda Coleman-Madison

    • This bill broadens the scope of practice available to licensers from the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners. (Act 2023-100)

  • HB 64 was introduced from Rep. Ben Robbins and Sen. Keith Kelley

    • This bill extends the period of time that non-profit veterans’ groups must meet local and state building codes when purchasing an armory that was once in use. (Act 2023-175)
