Montgomery, AL –Governor Ivey invited Alabama students to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge last week to inspire children to incorporate reading into their summer time activities.
“Each of you put in a lot of effort during the school year, and I couldn’t be more proud of your work within the school. It’s a great period of relaxation but not to stop studying. To keep the progress and growth you’ve made, we need to remain active by reading throughout the summer,” said Governor Ivey.
The Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge, beginning May 19, 2023, and closing on the 31st of July, 2023 can be enjoyed by all Alabama students. No matter if they are receiving private, public or home-schooling in grades K-8, students for the 2023-24 school term are welcome to participate in the.
Students who are grade-eligible could write a letter for Governor Ivey in which they describe what their favorite summer reading book was, and the reasons why they liked it. Reading novels for summer are also acceptable as topics.
Alongside the writing part in the letters, pupils should be sure to include the name of their teacher, class and the school the school they attend.

When the challenge was launched at the beginning of the challenge, Governor Ivey gave her support to the students.
“As the academic year winds down up and we begin to look forward to future summer activities, I urge everyone to create a dedicated time to read. This summer, I’m encouraging everyone Alabama students to read with me. We will all take part as part of my Summer Reading Challenge,” stated Governor Ivey. “I am looking forward to getting feedback from each one of you on your summer reading adventure.”
