Montgomery, AL –In an uplifting ceremony on the grounds of the Alabama State Capitol on Thursday on December 14 Governor Kay Ivey proudly announced the new member of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) — Millie The Work Zone Security Dog. With ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor and Millie’s handler, Morris King, Governor Ivey took the oath to take office, formally inducting Millie into the ranks of an honored ALEA Trooper.

Millie is a Labrador Retriever who is a Labrador Retriever who has established herself as a loved and recognizable image across Alabama. As a therapy dog certified and holding the prestigious title of being the official security animal from the Alabama Associated General Contractors (AGC), Millie has spent in the last four years traveling throughout the state with her beloved human companion. Together, they’ve been educating the public about the crucial necessity of safety at work as well as the dangers of driving distracted.

Through her engaging shows like “Lessons With Millie” along with “No Phones in the Cone Zone” Millie has not only won the hearts of Alabamans but also gave vital safety tips that aim to save lives while driving.

Governor Ivey when he swore on Millie for an official ALEA Trooper, praised Millie as a Labrador Retriever for her significant contribution to the safety of workers in the state’s work zones initiatives.

“Millie’s dedication to promoting work zones is admirable. Today, we celebrate her commitment to the safety of our workers and to education designating the honourary ALEA Trooper. We hope that Millie continue to motivate us all to put the highest priority on safety on our roads and highways,” said Governor Ivey.

Through the time over the years, over the years, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has worked in the past with Millie as well as Morris King on multiple occasions to promote safety at schools, and also during National Safety Zone Awareness Week that is held every year in April.

Secretary Hal Taylor emphasized the importance of Millie’s status as an honorary member within ALEA and stated, “This honorary swearing-in ceremony is not only a recognition of Millie’s work, but is also a reminder of necessity of safety at work.
