Anniston, AL –In an important step towards stopping human trafficking The HopeUNITED program of United Way for East Central Alabama’s anti-trafficking Initiative has received an impressive donation of $10,000 from the Alabama Power Foundation. This Elevate Grant is earmarked for initiatives focusing on both prevention and intervention to stop human trafficking in our communities.

HopeUNITED is committed to helping those who have been victims of trafficking in the form of ensuring that their most basic needs are met, helping them focus on the critical steps toward getting independence. Beyond immediate intervention, the charity is a big believer in community education, focusing on youngsters, in order to increase awareness regarding the signs of trafficking.

The Alabama Power Foundation, recognizing the crucial work of HopeUNITED and HopeUNITED, presented the check for $10,000 to the charity on December 14, 2014, Thursday around 12:30pm. This grant showcases the collaboration efforts that are aimed at eliminating human trafficking and assisting victims on their path towards recovery and self-reliance.
