With a long and distinguished history that spans years, this energetic five-piece band is set to embark on an all-encompassing tour and their Oxford concert being only one of the forty shows scheduled throughout all of the USA in the coming year.
What makes this concert more amazing is the inclusion of founders Don Brewer and Mel Schacher. Don Brewer, who not just plays the lead on the drums, but also the songwriter and vocalist of the multi-million-selling smash “We’re An American Band,” is an undisputed famous name in the rock world. Mel Schacher, often referred in the title “The God of Thunder” because of the thundering bass guitar abilities is yet another important part of the Grand Funk Railroad’s legendary legacy.
The band that will be joining Don and Mel in this exciting musical adventure is a group of genuine “All stars.” The singer Max Carl, a rock veteran best known for his time in the band 38 Special, penned and sang 38’s most chart-topping hit song “Second Chance.” Also, he was the co-founder of the legendary California band Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don Brewer himself refers to Max as “the most blue-eyed soul singer on earth,” and his presence is sure to bring a lively aspect to the show.
The lead guitarist Bruce Kulick, renowned for his 12 years with KISS is bringing his unique talent on stage. With credits that include collaborations with musicians such as Michael Bolton, Meatloaf, and Billy Squier, Bruce’s guitar skills are sure to impress the crowd. Incredibly, KISS the band’s members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were both influenced from Grand Funk, making this show a stunning fusion between rock stars.
The final touch to the group is the keyboardist Tim Cashion, who holds master’s degrees with a degree in musical performance from The University of Miami. Fondly known as “Dr. Tim,” his impressive credits include appearances in Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and also being the English popular soul singer Robert Palmer.
