Jacksonville, AL – Per the Jacksonville Public Information Officer, Benjamin Nunnally, a Jacksonville police officer was injured around two o’clock on Saturday morning in the course of a pursuit, which culminated in a shooting by an officer as per Jacksonville the police chief Marcus Wood.

Both suspect and officer are both in stable health at 9 a.m.

Weaver police tried to make a traffic check on 2022 Dodge Charger Saturday morning. The driver, who was 22 years old fled the scene in his vehicle. Weaver police chased the suspect through The City of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, where Jacksonville police joined in the pursuit.

Police caught up to the fleeing vehicle near the 5000 block of Alexandria-Jacksonville Highway. This suspect turned his vehicle around and drove into the Jacksonville squad car head-on before reversing to attempt a second time.

The officer got out of his vehicle and pulled out his gun in an effort to stop the suspect. The suspect was then able to hit him with the vehicle. The suspect then retreated to try again, then the police officer shot one shot.

Both suspect and officer were transported for treatment at Anniston RMC; the officer was treated and released as was the suspect, who taken into UAB Hospital in Birmingham for more treatment. It is the JSU Center for Applied Forensics Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting of an officer in the area of Crow Farm Road.
