Jacksonville, AL –Per Abigail Harrison with JSU’s media team Jacksonville State was named the 2023 Ellucian Impact Award winner for the utilization of technology to enhance the success of students and to provide top-quality education experiences.

Ellucian, a renowned higher education technology solutions provider, is praised by JSU for its ingenuity in the use of their products at the campus. JSU utilizes a variety of Ellucian products to enhance the communication process and results for students, including StudentForms, VirtualAdvisor and DegreeWorks.

By combining data-driven insight, personalized communications and user-friendly online tools, JSU has transformed the ways students participate in their co-curricular and academic activities. Particularly, the school has been successful in increasing enrollment while also simplifying the financial aid process by using Ellucian products.

Sabin Banjara, a data specialist at The Registrar’s Office, contacted departments to gather relevant details for the award nomination. With the guidance of the Dr. Janet Bavonese, assistant vice-provost for advisement he put together the final information and then submitted the application which emphasized JSU’s efforts in assisting both the personal and academic growth of students.

“Winning this award demonstrates that JSU is committed to the student experience from the moment they first meet right up to the conclusion of their course,” said Dr. Bavonese.

JSU was awarded a $25,000 institution grant as well as a personalized trophy. It was awarded to JSU in the Ellucian Live 2023 conference in New Orleans in late March at which were present Banjara as well as Jessica Wiggins, associate vice president for enrollment management. Charlotte Cole, director of financial aid; Shaun Stancil, senior systems analyst along with Candice Truitt, a systems analyst.
