Jacksonville, AL –Per the Director of Strategic Communications for JSU, Buffy Lockette, Jacksonville State University will be shut down on the 21st day of July, Friday, in order that Alabama Power may conduct scheduled maintenance at the substation that provides power to the campus.
There will be a 24-hour power outage in most buildings including those in the College of Education and Professional Studies Complex situated at the intersection of Francis Street and Spring Avenue. Alternate childcare arrangements must be made for children within JSU’s Child Development Center. JSU Child Development Center.
The following facilities that are fed directly with power from Alabama Power will not lose power, however, all related offices will be shut down: Meehan Hall, South Complex, Brookstone, ROC Annex Colonial Arms Apartments, Penn House Apartments, Campus Inn Apartments, College Apartments, Mountain Street Homes, JSU McClellan and the University Development House. _
JSU Canyon Center and the JSU Canyon Center as well as JSU’s RMC / Health Center will be open during regular time.
The power outage has impacted the dining facilities on campus, Sodexo is providing a lunch box and dinner on July 21 to pick up in Jack Hopper Dining Hall. Lunch, which can be picked up from between 12 and 1 p.m. It will include the deli meat or veggie sub and chips, along with a cookie and fruit. Dinner, which is available to be picked up between 5 and 6 p.m. It will consist of the following items: a Southwestern or vegetable wrap as well as a pasta bowl as well as pretzels and fruit. The cost of boxed meals includes a meal swipe which will be deducted from dining accounts for the week of July 24.
