Jax State’s Punter Jack Dawson and safety Jeremiah Harris are Conference USA’s special-teams and defensive stars of the week,, after the Gamecocks 17-14 win against UTEP.

Harris had eight tackles. He also had the game-saving interception during the final drive of UTEP. Harris jumped over the line to intercept Gavin Hardison’s pass from fourth down for Tyrin Smith with 1:05 remaining, which allowed the Gamecocks to finish the timer.

It was Harris’ third time that Harris had intercepted a ball during Harris the career of Harris.

Dawson kicked five times to the average 45.8 yards. He also punted two times over 50 yards. He also had the longest being 62 yards. He blocked three kicks to the 20-yard line.

Dawson’s first kick of the year came following the Gamecocks began their first drive. It ran 62 yards before getting lost in the UTEP 5-yard line. His two final punts that were made during the 4th quarter were intercepted within the Miners 20 yards.
