Jacksonville, AL –Per the Director of Strategic Communications for JSU, Buffy Lockette, Jacksonville State University (JSU) President Don C. Killingsworth, Jr. has been awarded an honorable place in those in Leadership Alabama, a diverse collection of powerful leaders from a variety of sectors across the state. The leaders chosen for their commitment towards advancing the potential of Alabama to the fullest extent.
In his acceptance of this recognition In his acceptance speech, The Dr. Killingsworth, a lifelong Alabamian said, “As a lifelong Alabamian I am honoured to be part of this remarkable group of leaders to address the issues and looking at opportunities that will impact the future of the state.”
In 1990, the organization was founded. Leadership Alabama operates as a non-profit, non-partisan group dedicated to creating a network of leaders with an knowledge of the issues and the priorities that shape Alabama’s future.
Gordon G. Martin, the senior vice president of Alabama Power and a former chairman of the board for Leadership Alabama, underscored the distinctive significance of the program declaring “Like any another program in the world, Leadership Alabama exposes established leaders to the issues that confront the people of Alabama as well as the many opportunities available. And, perhaps most importantly, it motivates people to act and builds lasting relationships between individuals that could lead to a more prosperous Alabama.”
Through the decades, Leadership Alabama has graduated more than 1,600 leaders who went into making significant contribution to Alabama. As a part of the prestigious 33rd class of the program, Killingsworth will embark on an adventure that will take his to various communities throughout Alabama. While there he’ll be participating in educational activities focused on addressing the many facets of economic, social and governmental challenges facing Alabama.
Born in Alexander City, Alabama, Don C. Killingsworth, Jr. has shown his unwavering dedication to his home state over his remarkable 22-year career. His commitment to Alabama is demonstrated by his positions as chair and member of boards for Leadership Calhoun County and the Calhoun County Area Chamber and Visitors Center. In addition, he is active with Jacksonville Exchange Club, Rotary Club Jacksonville Exchange Club, Rotary Club as well as the Jacksonville First United Methodist Church.
