This month, The Chanticleer received two famous nationally-recognized Pinnacle Awards from the College Media Association (CMA), which demonstrates their commitment to quality journalism.

Anna Barrett, a standout reporter for The Chanticleer, was awarded First Place in the “Best Breaking News Coverage” category for her enthralling piece entitled “JSU Student is Hit at Crosswalk with Car at Campus.” The piece was a perfect example of the importance of timely complete, accurate, and thorough coverage, keeping the campus community informed of an important event.

Additionally, The Chanticleer’s editorial staff, under the direction of recently graduated Thomas Ashworth, clinched Second place in the “Best editorial” area for their thoughtful editorial “ALDOT should act now to save lives.” The article showcased the team’s ability to craft compelling and powerful opinions that are a hit with readers and spark discussion about important questions.
