Come join for a discussion with Longleaf Botanical Gardens and Regional Extension Agent Chip East for an insightful workshop about pruning trees for fruit at the Longleaf Event Center.
Participants will have the chance to learn the art of pruning small fruit such as blueberries, muscadines, as well as figs. Chip East, a seasoned expert with a background grounded in horticulture and agriculture will guide attendees through the procedure. Get valuable advice on how to give the fruit tree a natural appearance in the landscape. Also, learn ways to boost the yield of your fruit.
Chip East’s love of gardening and agriculture began at a hog and cattle farm located in Clay County. His extensive experience includes working on many farms and obtaining degrees in education and horticulture through Auburn University, Chip has been an integral element in The Alabama Cooperative Extension System since 1997. His experience extends to livestock as well as forages, wildlife forestry and 4-H. He is currently focusing on commercial horticulture. Chip is working with producers in the production of vegetables, fruits as well as the nursery crop, athletic turf along with Christmas tree trees. His education efforts include landscaping landscape maintenance as well as pesticide safety and education and plant propagation, as well as vegetables, fruits pruning, as well as lawn grass maintenance.
