Dear Editor
Most Americans don’t know what or who they are voting for when they go to the polls. Our knowledge of history and candidates is limited, which is something our founder fathers and mothers didn’t have. Our ancestors were avid readers of books on political science, history, law, and sophisticated newspapers every day. These things are not possible for college graduates today.
These books taught us a sense responsibility to take part in government beyond voting.
The idea of giving the United States to the American electorate every 2 to 4 years is similar to asking elementary school students to manage their education. Our children would be playing in schoolyards and sandboxes all day. Unfortunately, their parents are using large sandboxes. While we complain about the other party’s behavior, we don’t have any viable solutions or ethical candidates within our party.
Professors at universities should offer adult continuing education programs for students to enrich their knowledge. Instead, they remain in their offices acting as unapproachable lords all knowledge.
