Hayley Long has informed the team that she would quit the team. It will be her last postseason for the team for track and field, and she will be the coach of the cross-country team in the fall.

Active in the running world in addition to coaching Donoho, her schedule has become very full. In the fall of last year, she launched an elite non-profit team known as Alabama Kenyan Runners. She owns a small business on vinyl, TAILGA Tunes.

She is as well her Anniston Runner’s Club treasurer and Woodstock 5K race director. This year’s Woodstock scheduled for August. 5 will be the national Road Runners Club of America 5K championship.

“This is a major task that requires lots organizing,” Long said. “All this said, the ultimate decision was taken when I learned that the track sectionals for next year are the year my son will graduate from Samford. State meet falls on during the RRCA convention I’d like to go next year.”

Long reported that she contacted Donoho’s athletics director Steve Gendron, who will be searching for a replacement during the summer. Gendron said he will look for her replacement in the coming summer. More sports news stories…]
