Oxford (AL) –Chief Bill Partridge made an appeal for help for one of his officers in the week. “Unfortunately, one our officers lost their entire home in a fire. The dedicated public servant also has a wife and two children. Another child is on the way. The link to donate is available below. We are grateful to you all.

As you may be aware, the Cheek family lost their entire home to a fire in their White Plains home on February 8, 23. The family’s primary vehicle was also lost in the fire. Father Matthew Cheek, his wife Mai, sons Miles, and Milo, along with their unborn daughter, are part of the Cheek family. Matthew is a police officer with the Oxford Alabama Police Department. Matthew is also an active member of the Alabama Air Guard and a member the Emergency Services Unit (SWAT). Matthew is proud to serve his country and his community.

The statement, which is made through a GoFund Me Account reads: “We are trying to raise money to help bridge the gap that between losing their house and being displaced until we can get insurance money to buy a new home.” Any help in this time of crisis would be greatly appreciated by their two young sons and the child who is on the way.
