Washington, D.C. –United States Rep. Mike Rogers (Republican from Alabama) made the following statement upon being elected Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Rep. Rogers will become the first Alabama congressman to be appointed Chairman of the committee.
“It is an honor to be selected by my House Republican colleagues as the Chairman of House Armed Services Committee. China, Russia and North Korea pose unprecedented threats to our nation. We must ensure that the military’s focus is on capability and lethality in order to counter these threats. The House Armed Services Committee will give our warfighters the weapons and resources they need to defeat and deter any enemy anywhere on the planet over the next two-years.
“The committee will also hold Biden’s administration responsible for misguided policies that divert from the Department of Defense’s core mission. The committee will scrutinize initiatives that serve a social agenda, but do not advance national security. The committee will hear from those in charge of these initiatives to see how they will help protect our national security. We will not rest until the Biden administration is held accountable.
“Alabama has played a crucial role in our national security support. I am proud to be the first Alabama congressman to chair the House Armed Services Committee.
