CHILDERSBURG Accept the bad with the positive if you want to stay in the game for a while.

Anniston’s season opened Monday night, and it was not good. The Bulldogs lost to Childersburg, 62-28, despite having only two players with significant varsity hours and one senior.

Anniston coach Torry brown said, “It wasn’t good.” There were two things that happened, and it was a mixture of both. It’s not uncommon for teams to make you play poorly. We had times tonight when they made us do it. Then there is the difference between if you can’t score versus if you don’t score. We had chances, but we couldn’t make any.

“We have some young men who have never played varsity and tonight was one night we couldn’t score a bucket. We are not a large team, so if you rely on shooting and don’t hit shots, you’re in for a long evening. We’ll get better.

GADSDEN Jorda Crok exceeded 2,000 career points in quarter one, scored 35 points, and led Ohatchee’s victory over Coosa Christians Monday by leading Ohatchee to a win of 60-22

Crook had to score three points in order to achieve the milestone. She did this by getting it on a bucket during a 15-point quarter. Crook now has 2,032 point. In her two previous games, she scored 78 points.

According to the AHSAA record, she would be the 74th Alabama player to reach 2,000 points.
