Colton Morris has clarity on his next job with his school system. Calhoun County school system.
Former Pleasant Valley High girls’ basketball coach will coach and teach at Alexandria the school’s Facebook page announced on Tuesday. He will be teaching social studies as well as “coach different athletic teams in AHS,” the Alexandria High School Valley Cubs post stated.
Morris stated that he’s unsure what sports the coach will be, but “football absolutely.”
“I am excited for the next chapter,” Morris said. “Alexandria is a fantastic school and a great community. God takes me to where I’m needed to go.”
Savannah Morris, Colton’s wife has taught for Alexandria Elementary in her first year as a teacher “and was awed by the school as well as its community,” Colton Morris said.
Morris was Pleasant Valley High’s girls’ basketball head coach for the past three seasons. She also was an assistant coach in several different sports over the course of eight seasons prior to that. The Raiders ended up winning 20-7 during the season and won the fourth Northeast Regional appearance and first since the year 2016.
To lead to lead the Raiders to the regionals, Morris was awarded the All-Calhoun Class 1A-3A County coach of the year.
He was told in April that he was to get “moved” inside the budgetary system as part of the process.
